Dear Editor:

Schools

The schools make up approximately 50% of the City’s total budget.

So, if you want to control the City’s budget, there are really only two people to vote for in the School Board race, Genevieve Becksted Muske and David “Leigh” Hudson.

Fire

The Fire Commission, in charge of the Fire Department’s budget, has by usual standards the smallest budget.

In a conversation with Richard ‘Dickie’ Gamester, he stated that the Fire Department is finally fully staffed.

The Fire Commission only keeps meeting minutes. Unfortunately, they don’t record the meetings for YouTube.  That is too bad.  It is so entertaining to watch City Council meetings that way.

I personally recommend voting for Jackie Cali-Pitts. Just by force of personality, she has been known to make grown men weep. If she can bring YouTube to the Fire Commission meetings, think how entertaining that would be.

Police

As for the Police Commission, vote for Francesca Marconi Fernald. She owns Geno’s, yes that Geno’s. That gives her a unique perspective as to the needs of local businesses as well as a long family history as a Portsmouth native.

Sincerely,

Mark Brighton, Portsmouth
