  1. Georgia Pacific:  240,000 gallons per day
  2. Highliner Foods:  67,000 gallons per day
  3. Beechstone Apartments: 49,000 gallons per day
  4. Essential Power Plant: 42,000 gallons per day
  5. Portsmouth Hospital:  41,000 gallons per day
  6. Water Country:  39,000 gallons per day
  7. Town of Rye:  36,000 gallons per day
  8. Town of New Castle: 34,000 gallons per day
  9. Tyco Submarine Systems:  33,000 gallons per day
  10. Sprague Energy: 26,000 gallons per day

This list does not include water customers at the Pease Development Authority (PDA) since they are served by a separate PDA water system operated by the City of Portsmouth.

Also, Georgia Pacific, Essential Power Plant, Tyco Submarine Systems, and Sprague Energy are all in Newington.

Does Portsmouth have enough drinking water to meet its future demands?   Who knows!?!

Since the  Portsmouth_WaterSystem_MasterPlan_2013.pdf (cityofportsmouth.com) is over ten years old and no updates are scheduled, it’s difficult to say for sure.
