City Hall defies public records requests

For the second time in fifteen months, Portsmouth City Hall has arrogantly and illegally withheld public records from the Portsmouth Herald in violation of New Hampshire’s Right to Know law RSA 91-A 

( New Hampshire Statutes – Table of Contents (state.nh.us)

The City’s most recent snub to a Right to Know request was related to proposals for the redevelopment of the Sherburne School.  Recall in June, 2023, the City pulled a similar stunt with respect to Herald’s Right to Know request for proposals for the Sports Arena Feasibility Study.  See stories in links below.

Perhaps 4th Floor City Hall Brass should take a field trip to a 5th grade civics class across the South Mill Pond where they would learn that the People of Portsmouth own the records in City Hall files, and that City Hall staff are there to cheerfully produce them when requested.
