Recent residential developments in neighboring communities suggest that Portsmouth, NH, may not need to prioritize further investments in affordable housing at this time, but rather focus on keeping Portsmouth affordable for those who already live here and pay the taxes.

In Dover, Pointe Place has introduced a variety of housing options, contributing significantly to the area’s housing stock. This development offers residents modern living spaces with convenient access to local amenities.

Similarly, Exeter has approved a 70-unit development aimed at expanding housing availability within the region.

Across the state line, Seacoast Residences in Kittery, ME, is now leasing a range of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. This luxury apartment community provides additional housing opportunities for individuals seeking residence in the Seacoast area.

These developments in Dover, Exeter, and Kittery collectively enhance the regional housing inventory, potentially reducing the immediate need for Portsmouth to invest further in affordable housing initiatives.
