Did you know… the City Council is playing tricks with the budget

You know those new full-time positions added in this year’s City budget?  Due to the City’s smoke and mirrors budget tricks, these positions are only partially funded for this year because the hires are not meant to take place until the fiscal year is part-way completed.  That reduces the cost to the City (and you and me as taxpayers) for this year.  But it means a required budget expansion for next year when these positions must be funded for the full year.  Nice to know the budget has more than a few such surprises built in for the taxpayer.
